"Stefan... he's hurt." Elena held her side while she gulped for air.

"I'm checking on him," Alaric yelled from behind her. "Looks like he'll be okay." Elena turned around to see Stefan cough and roll to his side.

The bittersweet moment embraced Elena. Jeremy, her brother, was a vampire... the bitter. Stefan was conscious and not dead... the sweetest moment ever.

She gave an assuring touch on Jeremy's arm while her eyes blurred. His dark shock of hair, large expressive brown eyes, and handsome face hadn't change... still Jeremy.

Damon and Elena minus Bonnie pulled up in Mystic Falls high school parking lot behind the football field. Damon had made sure he turned off the headlights before heading into the lot for stealth. Elm and pine trees, with a smattering of bushes, lined the other side of the tarmac. They quietly headed toward the field bordered by a high wire fence.

He could easily jump over it but he had Elena to think about. He climbed to the top of the high fence, with Elena clinging to the wire making slothful movements.

"Come on! We don't have all night!" He stretched a hand to help her up.

"Don't peek!" Elena said, with her jacket still on as she held her purple camisole. She stood in Bonnie's kitchen waiting for his response.

Damon waved his hand. "By a gentleman's code, one should never peek at a lady's ankle. Go ahead. My eyes are sealed." He did the gentleman's double wave of his hand and bowed.

Damon watched her lower lip pout and his dead heart did a double beat. It should have been her lips he had kissed, not her evil twin, Katherine. Moments ago, he had gently taken Elena by the elbow into the kitchen to explain why she was undressed at the top and to give Bonnie space to locate Jeremy and Stefan.

Stefan heard the valves of his heart let borrowed blood flow. His dead heart labored from stress. What stress he didn't know. Coolness met his face. Quietness, rest, and peace coupled with the illusion of floating in darkness gave him the sensation that he was high as a kite. He hadn't experienced that since the seventies.

Finally finished this portrait of Nick. This one represents him better than the first. [link]

His hair is longer, his eyelashes are taking front stage, and I love this pose. Yes, he actually posed for me while I took this pic.

He said he felt nervous and never had done this before.

I told him, "Act natural, do whatever, there's no problem because I don't know what I'm doing either."

I kept clicking and he did a wonderful job acting natural.

Before I knew it, he put his arm up to ruffle his hair...I said, "Stop! Don't move. I like it!" Click, flash, and here's the evidence.

(9x12 marker paper) 2HB-9B pencils and kneaded eraser. Done with reference. Freehand-no ruler, scales, just eyeballing.

I love the way he looks. I hope I did him justice. I noticed right away that he reminded me of Edward.

Thanks so much, Nikki. I do it layer by layer, stroking in the direction of the hair and darkening it each time. It's all a labor of love, which gives me the endurance and patience to follow through.

How do you make the skin so soft looking,
the texture is amazing! I have tried doing
real life drawings, but their skin is
never that smooth, and the hair I draw is
just lines, there are no highlights

Nikki, as far as tracing. That's mean for practice...it'll give you better knowledge on how to "see" for freehanded type art. I don't use any tracing tools for Twilight art, Nicks portrait. I hate those, but for commercial art, they come very hand cuz they're quicker to get the job done. Or they're good for scaling your own artwork. Whew! This is too much writing.
