Description
This is a commission I did for my wonderful friend, . He allowed me to paint his car from a gorgeous photo.
The car is his prized possession, close to his heart. That's why I categorized it as a portrait.
This was a doozie. Very challenging. I don't do cars, much less paint them. But the color, composition, and scenery was excellent inspiration for me. I loved doing this and I hope my friend enjoys the picture, likewise.
Never done anything like this before. It took about a month, off and on, 1-2 hours each time (sometimes minutes) because I tired quickly. With all that, it took about of 13 hours to complete. Key word, I took my time. I wanted to do a decent job... not sloppy, but as precise as I could get it.
Materials: Watercolor, Guosh (opaque watercolor), Acrylic, ...and colorpencils to draw in that grill.
On Illustration Crescent Board, 12"x18".

Whoa my friend! Love the work! The color, details, reflections, contour, and shading are wonderfully realistic in this piece, without sacrificing it's painterly quality and style! Also really like the dynamic angle in this work!
Keep up the great work, my friend!
